Bio

Anne Marie Golla is an economist at the Economic Research Service, which provides economic information and research to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Her current work involves research on food assistance programs, poverty and food insecurity, and the work schedules of low-income Americans. She is particularly interested in the role of households in shaping economic decisions and outcomes.

Previously, Anne worked in food assistance and development programs in the former Soviet Union with the nongovernmental organization CARE. She has worked extensively in Russia, Central Asia, and the Transcaucasus and consulted on shorter projects in Bulgaria and Rwanda. Anne has also done field research in Mexico.

Anne received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. Her doctoral research focused on the effect of additional children on household outcomes in Mexico and immigrant language skills and work. Anne has a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, with a concentration in Political Science and Soviet Studies.
