Prior to founding IFOK in 1995, Hans-Peter Meister served as spokesman for the federal minister of the environment, and created one of the first environmental public affairs units at the world's largest chemicals company, BASF. Hans-Peter Meister is the author of many publications on participation, new governance, and mediation. His latest book "Participation - A Program for Government, Business, and Society" appears in German in 2005. Hans-Peter Meister received a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Würzburg, Germany.
