Dr. Hans-Peter Meister is the founder and CEO of IFOK GmbH, one of the leading German political consulting firms. With IFOK, he pioneered new forms of societal problem solving, leading cross-sectoral partnerships involving government, businesses, and non-profits: Approaching political, environmental and social problems like a think tank and solving them through dialogue, cooperation and mediation, with the performance standards of a business consulting firm. Prior to founding IFOK in 1995, Hans-Peter Meister served as spokesman for the federal minister of the environment, and created one of the first environmental public affairs units at the world's largest chemicals company, BASF. Hans-Peter Meister is the author of many publications on participation, new governance, and mediation. His latest book "Participation - A Program for Government, Business, and Society" appears in German in 2005. Hans-Peter Meister received a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Würzburg, Germany.
