GPPI is partnering with Accenture’s Institute for Public Service Value to develop a series of breakfast workshops for public managers to discuss the managerial, technical, and leadership challenges of implementing large-scale policy and management change in a dynamic and complex political environment. Building on Accenture’s successful program with New York University’s Wagner School of Public Service, which focused mostly on municipal issues affecting New York City, the GPPI series will focus on national public policy and public management issues. The workshops will feature experts—practitioners, academics, and consultants—who have had success in leading complex management reform efforts. Among other things, the workshop series will create a networking environment to encourage the exchange of ideas between senior managers of complex change programs and those emerging leaders charged with undertaking similar efforts. The partnership will promote further learning about how successful management change efforts are designed and implemented.
The first event in the series, "Federal Workforce Transformation: Priorities for the Future," was held on October 23, 2007. Alexis Herman, Former Secretary, U.S. Department of Labor moderated a panel of experts including John Palguta, Sallyanne Harper, Kevin Mahoney, Michael Dominguez.
