GPPI is proud to be a community of students, scholars, and policy professionals who believe that policy matters. Whether we focus on jobs or justice, education or the economy, at home or abroad, we make a difference in people’s lives.
The difference is made through research to find policies that work and through action to put those policies into effect. Whatever their academic discipline or particular policy interest, our faculty apply social science theories to real-world concerns. We engage in research, not only for academic publication but also for public education. Through our individual research, our research centers, and our collaborations with Washington’s most prominent think-tanks, we actively contribute to policy debate—taking advantage of our Washington location to convene policymakers and academics to put research into practice.
Students come to GPPI because they want to change the world. We give them skills so they can. Our students use research to define and measure policy problems and to develop, evaluate, and implement solutions. And they become policy actors who know how to pursue their policy craft with integrity in a political environment.
