GPPI students whose schedules do not allow for a lengthy period of study abroad have the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of foreign decision-making processes in the capital city of the largest trading partner with the United States. Under a new exchange agreement with the School of Public Policy and Administration in Ottawa, Canada, students and faculty from each school will go to the other capital city over their spring break for a series of briefings with policymakers, journalists, and academics. The first group of Carleton students came to Washington for spring break 2006; the first GPPI group will go to Ottawa over spring break of 2007.
