GPPI Fund for Student Excellence
GPPI believes in experiential learning and supports students who wish to apply their skills and gain experience while making a difference in their field of interest. The GPPI Fund for Student Excellence provides financial assistance to students who are advancing their careers with substantive and meaningful internships that are unpaid. Leslie Whittington and Family Memorial Fund
Leslie Whittington was a professor of economics and public finance and had just completed her term as associate dean when she and her family died on 9/11 aboard Flight 77 when it crashed into the Pentagon. She was a respected and beloved faculty member and a passionate expert on the “marriage tax” and other family economics issues. This fund supports an annual student scholarship and prestigious public lecture in her honor.
Project Honduras
Project Honduras is a sustainable service learning project in the La Colonia community in Roatán, Honduras, an area where deep-rooted poverty and inequality impede the ability of the local residents from improving their lives. The initiative was established in the fall of 2007 when 12 graduate students worked to build a sustainable, long-term relationship with the island residents.
